VIDEO: BOM takes a smart step forward with hybrid food

How do we make hybrid food not only technically possible, but also socially accepted? And how can we accelerate the transition to hybrid solutions together? These questions were central during the 'Scale-up plant event' at the Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) in Eindhoven.

We looked back a little but mostly forward. A year ago we launched our ambition. With Brabant, the Scale-Up Plant of Europe, we are working towards a future-proof food system. And as Brabant, we are focusing on scaling up companies that develop nutritious and affordable plant-based ingredients.

We do this together with the Province of North Brabant, Rewin West Brabant, and numerous other companies and organizations. The urgency of this collaboration is clear: the pressure on the climate is increasing. This calls for a more sustainable food system.

Yet the transition to fully plant-based is challenging for many consumers. Fortunately, this is not necessarily required. Hybrid food offers a feasible step, without compromising on taste, nutritional value, or mouthfeel. In hybrid food, animal ingredients are partly replaced by plant-based ones.
